The Madrid region has completed the rehabilitation works on Metro Line 7B, which had been closed due to severe geotechnical issues. The project began in January 2024 and continued through the first half of 2026. In total, 20,600 square meters of land were stabilized and 5,575 meters of the tunnel were repaired. Approximately 13,000 tons of mortar were used for the consolidation. The total investment in the project amounted to 171.2 million euros. The line will connect the stations of Barrio del Puerto and Universidad in Alcalá de Henares, as well as six stations in Coslada and San Fernando de Henares. It is expected to serve up to 120,000 passengers daily. Additionally, a new 12,000-square-meter urban park is being built on the site of the former El Pilar complex, scheduled for completion in June 2026. Authorities also provided support to residents affected by the construction, paying out 11.8 million euros in compensation to 83 property owners from a total fund of 24 million euros.
